This is the great surrender

There is no "one way" that Kundalini operates. It's gift of itself within us is as diverse as the humanity it awakens with in. A big part of the activation of the Kundalini does deal with detoxification and purification. These are preparations for the merging with divinity. It is similar to the old wine being emptied from the cup so that the new wine can fill it.
Traumas will be released sometimes with a level of feeling especially if the trauma is emotional. The serpent will rise as many times as is required by the individual. Not just three times. Not everybody is in the same place within the activation and Awakening of their Kundalini so making broad sweeping statements like that is not appropriate to what the Kundalini does for each and every unique activation of itself within people.
Control issues will be worked on. This is the great surrender. The great surrender of our ego and its control over the choices in life that we make. Giving that control to the force and consciousness of Grace within you. This is not as easy as it may sound. It can be a big deal a hard process frustrating and painful and disconcerting and confusing. But it gets done to the degree that the individual can finally surrender to the point of merging with divinity.
The timeline is not the same for everyone. Once again it will be unique to the individual as we do not come with the same Karma into this body in this life neither do we resolve the issues of karma in the same way and within the same timeline as others.
