Kundalini and Conservatism
Oct 02, 2025
Some of us, coming from conservative backgrounds, tend to identify Kundalini with those values. Conservatism, in the sense of a mindset or a religious or cultural approach, emphasizes stability, tradition, caution toward change, and caution toward certain behaviors and expressions deemed inappropriate.
Although in some instances they share common points, such as self-discipline, which helps one avoid self-indulgence, and the encouragement of strong moral values in daily spiritual life, rooted in the awareness of living under the ultimate authority of a higher consciousness, God or Kundalini.
One can easily slip into the same rigid way of looking at Kundalini and self-expression in this process.
However, there are equally infinite aspects that remain untouched or unexplored by that mindset when viewed through the lens of grace.
Conservative and or religious thinking can be a great tool to bring us to the door of a Kundalini activation, but at that point, one must totally and fully abandon everything known up to then.
For example, if your conditioning tells you to stay graceful and silent in your expression, but your Kundalini pushes you to express joy loudly and intensely, then in that moment you must follow Kundalini. The same applies to expressing your love for others.
Another example is when Kundalini compels you to share energy through a brief, playful, or flirtatious interaction, you must follow this urge without labeling it through a conservative ego mindset or worrying about the opinions of others.
Blocking such sources of Kundalini infusion through another person is a form of resistance. This kind of attention carries the power of profound healing, and one should be especially aware of it if it occurs outside of the relationship.
Within Kundalini, one can be extremely “conservative” and “liberal” at the same time from a Kundalini perspective. I may be deeply self-aware, self-conscious, and introverted in one moment, and the complete opposite in the next. Kundalini encompasses and controls the full range of emotions and expressions.
These experiences will come to us naturally as we do our inner work with divinity, without requiring attempts to figure them out. Instead, these words are meant to provide parameters and inspiration for those moving further along the path of surrender.
Seek to cultivate self-awareness and mindfulness around your conservative conditioning, if you have it, but do not use it as a standard to judge others. There is no single path on this journey, only countless ways shaped by karma.
